Application · Animal hygiene

Z-Chitosan in livestock and animal hygiene.

We are looking for partners for development and authorisation.

Barn, milking parlour, drinkers, transport and entrance each pose their own hygiene tasks, each with its own regulatory route. This page is aimed at manufacturers and authorisation holders.

The problem

Biosecurity is mandatory and gaining weight.

Literature

  1. 2021

Under Article 10 of Regulation (EU) 2016/429, operators must take biosecurity measures appropriate to the species, the type of production and the risks. The regulation has applied since 21 April 2021.

  2. 50%

The EU aims to cut sales of antimicrobials for farmed animals and aquaculture by 50% by 2030 (Farm to Fork Strategy, 2020). Preventive hygiene is gaining weight as a result.

  3. Biofilm

Biofilms form in water systems and tolerate high doses of biocides (Flemming 2002).

Testing

Testing and classification.

FAQ

What partners ask.

Your question isn’t here? Ask the assistant or the team.

What approval does a livestock hygiene product need?

A disinfectant for barn surfaces, fittings or animal transport is a biocidal product of product-type 3 and needs authorisation under Regulation (EU) No 528/2012, in Germany via BAuA. Products meant to treat or prevent animal disease fall under veterinary medicines law, substances in feed or water under feed law. Not legal advice.

Is ZCP looking for distribution partners in agriculture?

Our first priority is partners for development and authorisation. Distribution becomes relevant once a product can be placed on the market. Distributors with experience in agriculture and livestock hygiene can get in touch now; we will add you to the list for market launch. Choose the enquiry type Retail/Distribution in the contact form.

Are there products for pets?

The ZCP catalogue shows concepts for pets, but no products can currently be placed on the market. The same routes apply: hygiene products for animals and their surroundings are biocides of product-type 3, and products against disease are veterinary medicines. The Product lines page shows the status of each line.
